Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, a prominent figure in the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), has officially resigned from his position as a Member of Parliament (MP). While rumors have been circulating about his potential move to Umkhonto weSizwe (MKP), a group many former EFF members have recently joined, Ndlozi has clarified that he is not leaving the EFF itself. His resignation is specifically from his parliamentary role, not from the party.
The resignation of Ndlozi, who has been a member of the National Assembly since 2014, comes alongside another resignation within the party: that of Yazini Tetyana. Both resignations were received by the EFF’s General Secretary, Marshall Dlamini, who confirmed that the party has accepted their voluntary departures.
This move has raised several eyebrows, particularly given that Ndlozi has remained silent regarding the recent developments within the party. His silence, especially after former EFF deputy president Floyd Shivambu’s transition to MKP, has sparked speculation that Ndlozi may be in favor of Shivambu’s shift. Many EFF supporters, particularly those who admired Ndlozi’s leadership as the former spokesperson, are now questioning his future in the party.
The EFF is facing a challenge as some believe that the departure of influential figures like Ndlozi could lead to a loss of followers. Many supporters are particularly drawn to the charismatic former spokesperson, and the party may struggle to retain this segment of its base.
The central question remains whether Ndlozi will continue as an EFF member or if he will ultimately sever ties with the party to align with other political factions, such as MKP. As the situation unfolds, it will be interesting to see how the dynamics within the EFF shift and what role Ndlozi will play in the coming months.
