Johannesburg — Moments ago at the Madlanga Commission, businessman Brown Mogotsi made explosive claims, declaring under oath that he is a “contact agent” and alleging that KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lt-Gen. Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi and Zulu King Misuzulu kaZwelithini are linked to the CIA.
Mogotsi also stated that Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala was the operative in 2018 who went by the codename “John Wick.” He provided no evidence to support any of these assertions.
Commission chair Justice Mandisa Madlanga requested clarification, but Mogotsi stood by his statements without offering documents or verification.
The allegations come as Mogotsi faces questioning over his alleged interference in SAPS operations and access to confidential police information. Earlier testimony from Lt-Gen. Mkhwanazi accused him of obtaining sensitive files and attempting to influence police activities. Mogotsi has denied these accusations.
Sources within SAPS and the Zulu Royal Household have dismissed the new claims as unverified.
The Commission is expected to formally review Mogotsi’s statements as proceedings continue.
